Dr. Moutaman Mirghani

Dr. Moutaman Mirghani has received the B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Khartoum (UofK) in Sudan, in 1989, 1998 and 2009 respectively. He started as a Teaching Assistant at the UofK in 1989 and then moved to Tripoli, Libya, where he was working as an Electrical Engineer since 1990 and till 1993, when he returned to Sudan and became an Engineer at a private company.

In the period from 1994 to 1998, he was a Researcher at the Military Industry Corporation (MIC). Then, he moved to Vega Aeronautics & Engineering Company as a System Engineer. In 2002, he started working with Karary Academy of Technology as a Lecturer, and later became an Assistant Professor in 2005. After the academy became Karary University (KU) in 2007, he was promoted to Associate Professor in 2011. While he was working for KU, he founded the Nile Center for Technical Research (NCTR) in 2005 and became the Director till 2007. In 2013, he established the Institute of Space Research and Aerospace (ISRA) and became the Director till 2018. Currently, he is an Associate Research Professor at ISRA and a Contracted Associate Professor at the UofK since 2017. He is also the Project Manager of ISRASAT1 CubeSat since 2017, and the National Coordinator of the World Space Week (WSW) in Sudan since 2015.

He has supervised several postgraduate and undergraduate students' dissertations and authored and co-authored many research papers in international, regional and local peer reviewed journals. He published two textbooks in Arabic: Radar Principles (2006); Signal Analysis and Processing (2012), and one book in English: Radar Signal Coding and Waveform Design (2016), plus one chapter: Adaptive Coding, Modulation and Filtering of Radar Signals, in the online open book: Topics in Radar Signal Processing (2018). His research interest includes small satellites design, radio telescopes, digital communications, radar systems, navigation systems, avionics and embedded systems.
