Sharon Emelia Dornukie Sappor

All Nations University College (ANUC), Ghana

M. Quarshie

Sharon is an Information and Communication engineer with a passion for research and teaching.

She holds a bachelor of engineering Degree from All Nations University College (ANUC), where she studied Electronics and Communications Engineering in 2012. She also has a MEng Post graduate Degree from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in 2016, with a Major in Information and communication whereby she specialized in Image Processing and her thesis was on Improvement of Object Tracking Based on Mean shift Algorithm applying Corner Detection.

As a certified Occupational, health and safety personnel, she has organized two successful workshops for international post graduate and graduate students in China. She is currently the Communications coordinator for the Space, Science and Technology Lab. at All Nations University College in Ghana. Currently she and her team are working on the Launch of Ghana's first Observational Satellite (GhanaSat-1). She is also working on a women in engineering program for the High school students, where female engineers as she would educate young females about the joy in engineering so as to get more females enrolled in the engineering disciplines in the various universities.

In order for Ghana and Africa at large to make a contribution to communication, it is of great Importance that space programs be no longer overlooked. She thus intend on applying her acquired skills in image processing and research ability jointly with other academicians in the field of research to harness the full potential of the benefits to mankind as a whole. There are a myriad of issues which can be tackled with the advanced image processing techniques of satellites in orbit. Such as Preventing Forest fires, deforestation patterns, weather patterns among others are the pertinent issues which can readily be monitored from space with a satellite.

It is therefore her future plan to recruit more female engineering students to garner an interest in research especially in space programs which will have a far reaching goal to enhance communication through research.
